A listed 17th century château with annexes one hour from Paris - Set in 19 hectares of enclosed grounds boasting exceptional French formal gardens
Sole Agent. 140-page file on request.
One hour from Paris in Normandy’s Eure Valley. This truly remarkable ensemble features a magnificent chateau built between 1620 and 1627 on the site of a former Benedictine abbey. Its style bears witness to the architectural revolution initiated by Philibert de l’Orme, and is a contemporary of Louis XIII’s hunting lodge which was to be transformed to create Versailles Chateau.
Boasting sumptuous reception rooms with remarkable decorative features, the chateau has undergone from 2004 to the present day meticulous “by the book” restoration work under the supervision of the “Architectes des Bâtiments de France” as well as the Ministry of Culture.
Accessed by means of a magnificent drive lined with lime trees, the superb walled grounds feature sumptuous French formal gardens with water features, box hedges and antique statues, as well as Italian-style gardens also with water features and fountains. Boasting majestic centennial trees, the grounds are crossed by a branch of the River Eure and feature a “romantic” lake, an orchard and a greenhouse. Woodland is currently in the process of plantation.
Unquestionably a rare and precious witness to 17th century French Art de Vivre.
