LOOKING TO CUSTOMIZE THESE FLOOR PLANS?

You’ve got it! Falcon offers an extensive library of modification options for you to choose from. Here are some of the most popular modifications used for a storage container.

CONEX STORAGE CONTAINERS VS. PORTABLE STORAGE PODS & SHEDS

Conex storage containers offer superior durability, security, and climate control compared to traditional portable storage pods or prefabricated sheds. These units are built from steel shipping containers and modified to protect valuable tools, materials, and equipment in industrial environments.

    Container Storage Advantages

    All-steel construction for superior security

    Climate-controlled options protect sensitive materials

Highly durable — engineered for harsh jobsite conditions

Portable and reusable across multiple locations

Stackable or combinable for increased capacity

Low maintenance and long service life

Can be customized with shelving, power, or ventilation

    Portable Pod / ShedLimitations

Lightweight construction prone to damage or theft

    Minimal insulation, poor temperature regulation

Not designed for industrial or long-term usage

    Limited security for higher-value assets

Typically not weather-tight in extreme climates

Not designed for relocation once placed

    Few customization options

    Delivery & Permitting

These floor plans come from our extensive design library and are some of the most common layouts for a modified container repurposed for storage spaces.

    Delivery & Logistics

Falcon coordinates nationwide delivery using vetted, insured drivers and a range of transport options, including tilt-bed trucks, flatbeds, and step-decks, to ensure your modified container arrives safely and on schedule. We’ll guide you through every step so delivery day is predictable and straightforward.

    Site readiness

Before delivery, your placement area should be flat, level, and compacted so the doors open smoothly and utilities drain correctly. A concrete slab, gravel pad, or other hard, level surface works well. Containers must be placed with all four corner castings supported, and the ground should allow enough clearance for safe maneuvering of the delivery truck or crane if necessary.

    Access & placement

Your driver will need a clear path from the street to the final location, with adequate width for turning and enough overhead clearance for the truck and container. If a crane or forklift is required for placement (common with flatbed or step-deck deliveries), Falcon will advise you during scheduling.

    Utility preparation

If your unit includes electrical or plumbing:

Electrical service should match your container’s required 208V/220V power and be installed by a licensed electrician. All units must be properly grounded with a 6-foot grounding rod.

Plumbing connections require a licensed plumber and typically involve a ¾-inch water inlet and a 3-inch black-water drainage line.

We’ll provide shop drawings and connection details so your local contractors can prepare before the unit arrives.

    Permitting Support

Depending on your location and intended use, container-based structures may require building, electrical, mechanical, or other necessary permits. Falcon helps simplify this process by providing the documentation and support your local authority will expect.

    What we provide

Stamped engineered drawings and structural details

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) documentation

Guidance on applicable building codes and use classifications

Support coordinating submittals with your local permitting office

Because requirements vary widely by jurisdiction, from temporary use permits to full foundation inspections, we help you understand what’s needed early, reducing delays and keeping your project on track.

    FAQs
How do I choose the right size storage container for my operation?

Choose a 20-foot container for compact tool storage or temperature-sensitive materials stored near work areas. A 40-foot container is better for bulk inventory, larger equipment, or consolidated storage that needs to stay protected in one location. If you’re unsure, Falcon can help match the container to your space, access, and capacity requirements.

What site preparation is needed before a storage container is delivered?

Most customers prepare a level, compacted surface—such as gravel, concrete, or asphalt—to support proper placement and airflow beneath the container. Falcon’s team can provide guidelines for foundations, necessary utility prep, and delivery considerations to ensure a smooth installation.

How secure are these storage containers compared to other options?

Conex storage containers are remarkably secure. They’re built from corten steel, a high-strength, corrosion-resistant alloy engineered to harden over time. ISO containers also feature heavy-duty doors, lockboxes, and structural reinforcements. This makes them far more resistant to break-ins, impact, and weather damage than portable storage pods or wood-frame sheds.

Can storage containers be relocated or reused across different job sites?

Yes. Modified storage containers are designed to be moved multiple times as your projects change. Their steel structure and integrated lifting points make them durable and reusable, which helps reduce long-term equipment and storage costs.
