Be aware that the title says 5 liters, but the true SOUP CONTAINER capacity is 3.8 liters. This container is very cute and the recessed handles make it very easy to carry when full. I tested the heat retention using PLAIN WATER...I boiled 3.8 liters of water to the 212 degree boiling point and poured the hot water into the container. I secured the lid. After 3 hrs, I opened the lid for the first time and the water temp dropped from 212 to 174 (an avg of 12 degrees per hour). (For me, 175 is the perfect water temp for tea and coffee.) For the next 5 hours, I checked the temp every hour and each time, the temp dropped by only 5 degrees. So, the water temp dropped an avg of 12 deg per hour in the 1st 3 hours, but only 5 deg per hour thereafter! Apparently, the reason the water cooled much faster in the early hours compared to the later hours is due to "Newton's Law of Cooling." Anyhow, during the course of the 8 hr test (where I only removed the lid to check the temp), the temp dropped from 212 to 148, so the container does a GREAT job of holding the heat. Here are my results for broccoli cheese soup. I filled the container to the near the top with boiling broccoli cheese soup (boiling point was 199 degrees). I didn't open the lid until 5 hours later and the creamy soup was at about 160 degrees, which was a perfect temperature for soup!. Danielle. Mon Jan 26 2026

These containers are fabulous! I bought three for my barn feed room and they hold a 50lb bag of grain. The angled lid is great and there is a large, very sturdy scoop included as well. I think it is a great concept and I was really excited about it. But, it arrived bent and the the containers do not lie flat and the cover doesn't compeltely close. I opted to keep because I needed it for an upcoming event and there wasn't enough time to get a replacement (I received a 25% discount). I think it is worth purchasing, but I would buy it well in advance of when you plan on using it, in case it comes bent. I was pleasantly surprrised by the 9 sets of tongs and spoons.
