Wyoming Been exactly there. Here's what we had, and what we did: 16" cased diameter well that was pumping the gravel pack up through a turbine pump. Well was 240 deep, cased down to 248. Roscoe-Moss screening from 165' on down to the bottom. Pulled the column, sent down a camera - twice. Could not see where/how the packing was coming up. But there was no dispute that the packing was coming up -- about a 5 gal bucket every other day was being pulled out of the pivot sand trap(s). So we ended up putting down 14" casing and "sleeved" the well. Blank casing from 0 to 165', then screening from 165 down to 250. We drove the screening into the mud on the bottom as hard as we could. This solved the problem, and we then shoved a 550 GPM submersible down the well, hung on 8" column. Got rid of the above-ground Newman motor and the drive/drip-tube setup. Never been happier with the well; the submersible is a joy to deal with and the well pumps no more gravel (or sand, for that matter).
