When slurry pump are pumping slurry which is a kind of liquid containing solid acting as an abrasive and/or corrosive characters, the slurry pump volume is influencing the slurry transfer ability, slurry speed, which also affect slurry pump selection, therefore what does slurry volume mean?
Slurry volume is the ratio of slurry weight comparing with the slurry density, and the slurry volume will be calculated according to the slurry density which is the prime parameter. Slurry density is usually expressed in kilogram per cubic meter (kg/m3) or pounds per gallon (lb/gal), according to the expression, we can easily see that the slurry density is the ration of slurry cubic meter in weight. When slurry pump is pumping in typical oil and gas well, the slurry density is ranged in 1380 1380 to 2280 kg/m3 or 11.5 to 19.0 lb/gal, whereas when slurry pump is working in mineral processing system, the density is even larger.
Slurry Volume = Slurry Weight / Slurry Density
Slurry volume is equal to slurry weight divide by slurry density.
In to second step of calculating slurry pump volume, China slurry pump Do pump is showing the calculation parameters in the following:
1. Additive weight per cement sack (in pounds, lb)
Weight = percent of additive x 94 lb/sk
When Warman slurry pump is pumping slurry, the slurry weight is equal to percentage of additive times 94 lb/sk
2. Total amount of water requirement (in gallon per sack, gal/sk)
Water = water requirement by cement (gal/sk) + water requirement by additives (gal/sk)
The water requirement to the slurry which are used for slurry pump pumping is calculated as water requirement by cement (gal/sk)plus water requirement by additives (gal/sk)
3. Slurry volume (in gallon per sack, gal/sk)
Volume = (94 lb / Specific Gravity of cement x 8.33 lb/gal) + (weight of additive, Ib / Specific Gravity of additive x 8.33 lb/gal) + water volume, gal.
Slurry volume which is one of the main factors for slurry pump selection is calculated with (94 lb / Specific Gravity of cement x 8.33 lb/gal) plus(weight of additive, Ib / Specific Gravity of additive x 8.33 lb/gal) plus water volume, gal.
4. Slurry Yield (in ft3/sk)
Slurry yield = Slurry volume, gal/sk / 7.48 gal/ft3
5. Slurry Density (in pounds per gallon, lb/gal)
Slurry density = 94 + weight of additive + (8.33 x volume of water per sack) / slurry vol, gal/sk.
In summary, China slurry pump - Do Pump explained how to calculate slurry pump volume which is one of the information for slurry pump selection, more than that, Warman Slurry Pump which is highly used in mineral processing equipment is also following the rule of the calculation formula, for more information about slurry pump selection, easily contact our engineers.
