best sump pump with battery backup canada

Is Macerator pump really necessary?

    davidkillion

Complete noob with a '07 Allure 430 Hood River - #31513. First project, being able to dump the tanks at my house. The clean-out at my house is at a higher level than the RV and is about 100' away so I will have to use a pump. However, since I have the macerator toilet, do I really need a macerating pump to do this, or can I just use any old 12v pump? Also, I'd like to permanently mount this with a switch, where would you recommend I grab the 12v? Thanks in advance.

ok, I've had a think about this and I'm going to go with a macerator pump just to be safe. But my question now is where would be the best place to pull 12v. I'm seeing the pump could pull 12a. Thanks!

ok, I think I've answered my own question again. After looking through wiring diagrams and a wiring harness behind the "Filter" door - it looks like wire #413, which is already fused in the house @ 20a (labeled SaniCon) can be tapped into for this purpose. I assume SaniCon is not on my rig because there is no pump in the basement sewer compartment, so I should have the full 20a available. Still open to any advice.

If you get a spin-on macerator, you can have it both ways. 3” stinky slinky for the classic dump and the macerator for the “over the river and thru the woods” dump. I, personally, have a permanent mounted after market macerator. It connects to the factory 3” pipe with a typical bayonet connection. I can unhook it easily if needed. Macerator is piped into 3/4” poly pipe and mounted to run thru an installed access door. Did the fresh water the same. This is a “winter-proof” connection. I have run this setup for over 5 years without issue. Always dump black and then gray, for the rinse.

I use a macerator when pushing the stuff up hill. Since it is a pump and putting pressure in the system my preference is test with grey first - assuming no leaks switch to black then finish with grey. The pressure tends to wear out hoses (pin hole leaks to full split) so testing with grey is advisable.

SO if and when you get a pump to pump the sewage 100' up hill. WHAT do you do with the 100' of sewage thats still in the hose? seems like your going to have a big mess when you unhook the hose from the down hill end. Jay D.

He said up hill and 100 feet away, not 100 feet up a hill. You lift the hose on your shoulder and walk it out towards the sewer, before you disconnect.

I really like this idea. my drain is very low pointed straight down so might add a macerator pump (have macerator toilet like you) and water type hose. To answer Jay's post, just like twinboat said lift it up and drain it out. We close the tank valve then pump a ton of water to flush it a few times before disconnecting the hose. Then lift the hose end up and let gravity do its thing. With a built-in macerator pump I can have the pump on the bottom of the tank but put the output hose connector at the top of the bay with a cap. Then it'll give me 3-4ft height when off so I wouldn't even need to worry about it. Hoses are a lot smaller and better protected than a slinky. Wonder how a hose reel would work in this scenario?
