is it possible for a quirk that’s essentially an anti quirk to exist? like, if the user comes in contact with a quirk they can deflect it and/or are immune to its abilities? kinda like dazai’s ability, no longer human, from bsd
Do I think that there is a Quirk that can offers a counter to Quirks? Yes, Aizawa being the perfect example of that. Do I think that there is a Quirk that works as a perfect counter to all Quirks? Absolutely not. That is way too strong to possibly be a Quirk. Going by your example, all the user would need to do it just hold up their hands and just say no to any and all Quirks coming their way. Even someone like Aizawa, who has a similar ability, has a lot of issues and stipulations when it comes to using "Erasure". So I really doubt that something that could reject the main power system of the series could really work.
Hello!! Could I request a Quirk marriage between Black hole and frog?
I would just like to let you know that you are responsible for the abomination I have made.
This Emitter type Quirk greatly alters the user's mouth, growing in slightly in size. But on the inside is where the real changes happen. In their mouth, specifically around the front of the user's mouth, the user seems to create a swirling, black void. While the void doesn't seem to target anything in the user's mouth, but anything that comes in contact with it is erased; destroyed at the atomic level. To help with this, the user's tongue expands as well, able to latch onto to something the user wants to and slowly drag the target into their mouth to be destroyed. This gives the user a frightening power, able to eviscerate anything they wish as long as they get it to the void in their mouth. Though the limited size of the user's mouth makes it hard and tedious process to try and destroy something of any significant size, such as a car or another human being. And while the tongue is a useful tool, it's hard to really use on anything that can fight back or be used in other ways, such as a using it like a grappling hook, because of how relatively weak it is. As such, it only really works like a longer arm to pull things to the user.
A quirk marriage between Jet and Impact Recoil please and thank you?
This Emitter type Quirk activates whenever the user is hit by a physical attack. When this happens, it absorbs some of the kinetic energy from the attack, nullifying a good bit of the attack in the process. But the true power of this Quirk comes in that the user can reapply the force absorb anywhere throughout their body, able to use that kinetic power as their own. This works much better at pushing the user around then actually firing it back at the enemy, as the Quirk seems more focused at moving the user around rather than fighting back. Aside from that, the user has a great amount of control over how the force is used, either all at once or dull out over time. This improves the user's mobility and is especially useful if the user finds themselves in a tight spot, able to quickly escape a fight. Barring that, the user could always act as a meat shield. However, while the Quirk protects the user a from a good amount of the damage, doesn't remove the entirety of the kinetic force, meaning the user could still be taken out by a punch. Other methods of attack, such as fire, can still hurt the user.
Would a idea of an aswang or a manananggal work as a quirk? Both creatures are from Filipino folklore, so I'm aware that some things can't be transfered over easily/at all. Thanks for you help, and have a wonderful day!
The issue with Aswang is that there isn't really any consistency with it. I know mythology tends to change and evolve with culture, but the term make it even hard to do. In this case, it just seems like a general term for "boogey men" with only a few consistent traits, but varied appearances and abilities. The terms encompasses the Filipino equivalent of vampires, werewolves, and witches, making it a bit hard to narrow things down. It's like asking me to do a Quirk based around Yokai: there's just so many variations that I can't really go into them with any detail.
As for the Manananggal, while more consistent, does face another issue: manananggal is a really silly monster. I know we've had some unusual Quirks, but I think bisecting yourself to become a flying bat creature may be a little much. You’re even losing out on your legs, so it’s not much of a net benefit. Now if something like turning the bottom half of your body into a rocket, then that would be a little less ridiculous, but at that point it doesn't feel very related to the original idea. Maybe you could try something with the blood sucking, but such an idea wouldn't be different from any other vampire inspired Quirk or a mosquito related one.
Truth Seeking Balls as a quirk? Of course omitting the whole... explosion part and the power to just say “yeah, how about no?” To every power that isn’t part of the Monk class
Believe it or not, I do actually think that something similar to that could work. But as you said, dropping everything else the power does. Making limited constructs out of a substance the user makes could be an interesting ability. Not something as a big or powerful of course, like a shield that can survive a planet exploding or making flying discs, but enough that it could still be useful. Again, I'm not a fan of the series, so I may just not wholly understand the power. Conveniently enough, I've done two Quirks that would work perfect with that idea.
Hey again, Wiz! Starfust anon! Sorry, you're probably getting tired of me now 😅 I just wanted to say that I decided to read into Boom Bomm's abilities when you suggested her and honestly, I see Stardust being just like that as well, just different in appearance. Thank you for mentioning her, now it'll be easier to write for the Quirk! And thanks for the advice about the Supernova super move once again! I'm really glad that I can come to you for advice.
Well thank you for telling me that. I'm glad you were able to find all my suggestions so helpful in making you're Quirk, especially with the character suggestion. And don’t worry, I'm not getting tired of you. I honestly find it refreshing that someone had a dialogue with me, as much as you can with asks, about their Quirk and show that it developed.
Overhaul X mimicry
This Transformation type Quirk allows the user to integrate parts of their surroundings into their bodies. For instance, by touching the road, the user breaks down the concrete and reintegrates it into their arm, increasing their durability and striking power. The user has a great amount of control over how this effects their body, even after it goes onto their body. Going back to the previous example, the user could more the concrete to another part of the body or start adding on more concrete to enlarge their fist. With enough training, they could even begin to combine the various materials they take in. This gives the user an amazing amount of options, able to quickly adapt to any situation they are in by gaining power from their environment. Though this is limited to the user's own body and what is around them, making it hard to apply in certain situations. The user also cannot integrate anything complicated, such as a cellphone or fire arm, nor can they implement anything organic. Anything they integrate could possibly be beaten out of them or simply be too hard to retain after a while.
So how about Wave Motion and Vibrate?? I was thinking bout this on my lunch the other day
Hey, thinking about Quirks all day is my job.
This Emitter type Quirk allows the user to produce powerful vibrations from anywhere on their body, forming what seems to be clear, concussive blasts. The blasts have a pretty good range and power to them, easily able to push a car around with the force, and can be easily adjusted by the user. With how it can be applied anywhere on the body, the Quirk offers up a lot of possibilities. Besides the obvious damage the user can do, both to their enemies and their surroundings, the Quirk can easily be used to get around, the user blasting themselves around or emit weaker ones from their feet to fly around. Though the vibrations can be hard on the user's body is applied too much, causing to go numb and making it difficult for them to move. The Quirk can also be very dangerous if not handled properly, meaning the user must be careful as to not damage anything around them.
Voice and solid air or voice and explosion ;)
I mean I have to do the one with the two yelling blondes.
This Emitter type Quirk activates whenever the user yells. When this happens, a powerful explosion is created from their mouth, traveling along a straight line in front of the user. The power of the Quirk is based around the user's volume outside of any outside amplification. So the louder the user yells, the more powerful the explosion becomes. The user can manipulate this explosion, by moving their mouth or placing their hands in certain positions, giving this one simple attack a little more variety. This gives the user a lot of destructive power, with some variation in how they can apply it, able to decimate opponents and obstacles with prejudice. This attack is based around the user's throat, so any attack to the throat or anything that keeps the user from breathing or speaking will prevent them from using their Quirk. The frequent use of the Quirk can be painful for the user's throat.
Whirlwind x Muscle Augmentation. Because with Muscular, air goes through one ear and out the other... because... you know... he’s da stoopid
Wouldn’t really call him stupid, even though he let his own desires get in the way of the mission, just a bit of a muscle head.
This Transformation type Quirk allows the user to suck in nearby air into their body. After this is done, the user begins to increase in size and power, the air flowing through them increasing the user’s physical power. The changes act as a general improvement to the user’s body, increasing their strength, speed, and durability. The more air the user takes in, the stronger they become, to the point where even a relatively weak person could threaten another physically based Quirk user. This mixed with how easy it is to take in and retain air in the body makes for a dangerous combination, able to physically overwhelm opponents at a moment’s notice and take damage they wouldn’t normally survive. However, the air can be knocked out of the user if they are hit too hard, losing all their strength. They can even begin to leak out the air if they hold it in for too long or if they try to take too much in.
Leap x Overclock. Hopping around at the speed of sound, got places to go, gotta follow my rainbow
This Emitter type Quirk allows the user to drastically increase the speed and power of their legs, making them move anywhere between three to seven times faster than they would normally. The Quirk also increases the user's spatial awareness and perception abilities, preventing them from hitting anything with their newfound speed. This gives the user a nice variety of abilities, such as dodging attacks, high speed kicking, leaping from wall to wall to get around faster or higher, overwhelming opponents with speed, or just use it to get much faster than the user would normally. Besides being limited to the user's legs, the Quirk is very draining on the user's stamina, quickly exhausting them if they apply it too much. Slippery and uneven surfaces can easily upset the user's ability to move, causing them to fall if they are not careful.
Yes, please tell us what BNHA characters you would like to have in a zombie apocalypse :D
Well, anonymous asker, I was going to do your ask. But as you can see, it quickly got quite big. So I decided to make it’s only little thing that I could have fun with. Before I continue with my explanation, a few rules. I will be limiting this to six characters and myself, though I will allow myself to pick from whoever in the cast I want. The zombies will be the traditional slow kind. And for the sake of fairness, I will also be giving myself a Quirk for this scenario.
I’ve talked a lot about how I’ve wanted this Quirk, and I think it is all the more relevant here. Whatever role the others can’t fill, I could feasibly cover by constantly absorbing more and more information. Just get me to a public library and we will be home free.
Momo: I mean I kind of have to have her on the team. Her Quirk is just too useful to consider anyone other than her as my first choice. I know food would be harder to come by in this scenario, thus making Momo just as much as a liability because how much her Quirk relies on food.
I believe also that she would make a solid leader as well, able to make plans and organize us to keep us all alive.
Mina: You wouldn’t think someone bright pink would be useful in a zombie apocalypse. Besides her acid being an amazing offensive tool that works at a lot of ranges, what actually made me consider her for the team was how much she can alter the Quirk. On top of the acid, she could feasibly make glue, which would be great for building up defenses or making non-lethal traps. She also has the added bonus of being very upbeat, which would be nothing less than a blessing a time where everyone is grim, gritty, and hasn’t showered in three months.
Denki: While Denki doesn’t endear himself to me like he does everyone else, I cannot deny how amazingly helpful he would be. He’s basically just a living generator, which would amazing in places full of formerly functioning electronics with no electricity. I mean he is kind of stupid, but that just makes it easier to excuse the actions when the writers need him to do stuff to make the plot move.
Pixie Bob: Team Mascot! But seriously, “Earth Flow” would be amazing, allowing the group to alter the terrain to get around easier, make traps, and even make our own shelter. But the bigger reason I decided to pick her was her Earth Devils because of how useful they would be. We would never need to worry about transportation, the Earth Devils would do great at fighting zombies, and we could even feasibly use them like pack mules. Granted Pixie Bob is a little... much, but nothing that would be a real threat to safety.
Double: Bit of an obvious choice, at least for me. Besides being very loyal, his Quirk would be on par with Momo’s in terms of how useful it is in this scenario. Not only could he make great scouts and supply runners without endangering anyone, the doubles could even be used as zombie bait without risking harm to the main force. And even if the zombies wouldn’t try to eat them because they are basically walking mud, then that makes them even better supply runners since they won’t be targeted. Plus making doubles of the other members of the group would make it so they don’t exhaust themselves by using their Quirk too much.
Hawks: Who would have guessed the Number 2 hero would have been so useful. He would be an amazing scout, able to fly around unimpeded to survey the area. He is no slouch in combat either, with how he’s able to cover a lot of ground and be pinpoint accurate with his feathers. Hawks could even use his feathers as a passive security system since he can hear through them. Plus his wings would make it so we have an easy access to weapons by using his feathers. Though one of the bigger reasons I wanted him on board was because of his ability to stay calm in a panic, something more valuable than ever when everyone is forming crazy cults or murder cults.
Runners Up:
Cementoss: Covers the same ground as Pixie Bob and would be amazing in a city setting where people likely will not be. But I just thought that Pixie Bob could do what he does and still have a little more to offer.
Setsunna: Does a lot of Hawks would do, but with the added bonus of being less vulnerable to the bite by splitting off parts of herself. I even considered the idea that she could use her Quirk to make bait for the zombies. Then I realized how insane that made me sound, so I decide to drop her.
Recover Girl: Her healing Quirk would be invaluable, plus she’s the only doctor we’ve seen in the series that hasn’t experimented on people. But I felt as though that is all she offered, not really having any other traits that would be helpful, especially with her size and age. But I feel like that combined knowledge and experience of the group, especially with Pixie Bob’s training as rescue hero, would be enough to at least get by.
outburst and rewind please
This Emitter type Quirk allows the user to manipulate the emotions of those they are touching. When they touch someone, they may emotionally regress someone to a previous emotional state by focusing on an emotion. For instance, the user can touch Shoto and focus on the emotion of "anger at a parent". Shoto would then go back to feeling anger towards his father, as if the emotion was still fresh. The target will stay like this until the user dismisses the Quirk or the Quirk wears off after a while. This works great at manipulating others, reminding enemies of hopeless fear or empower allies with great hope. However, applying the Quirk can be tricky, and that goes beyond just the touch based range. Unless the user has a specific moment to zoom in on, it may not be that specific. So "sad" could be anything from dropping their sandwich to the death of a family member. So the user either has to phrase it properly or know something about their target beforehand.
Yayy I’m happy the ask box is open again and I have to say I LOVE your ideas. They’re amazing! Anyways, I was thinking of a quirk marriage with zero gravity and heal? Thanks so much!
Thank you, that is very kind of you to say. I'm glad you enjoy my blog so much and I hope you enjoy this one as well.
This Emitter type Quirk activates whenever the user touches someone with all five fingers. When this happens, the target is put into a suspended animation, the slowing the targets heart rate, breathing, and numbing their response to pain. This doesn't seem to do any damage to the target. In fact, the target seems even better, any injuries they were experiencing beforehand seem to slow down significantly. This also greatly slows down the rate of decay on what the Quirk is working on, as if it was put on ice, making it so anything detached can easily be reattached. This makes the user great in support, apply to their Quirk to those harmed to keep them from dying from their injuries. However, the user can only use this on the willing or the unconscious, making it next to impossible to apply the Quirk anywhere outside of support. The Quirk can be difficult to maintain if the user is distracted from keeping the Quirk active.
Could the Strings from Monsterhearts work as a quirk? It probably would not involve the full spectrum of the mechanics but the idea of taking a 'string' from someone gives the user some kind of advantage over the person.
Why did you let me know this thing exists?
As for your ask, I don't think this could work. Judging by your description and the brief excerpt I found about the topic, it's similar to Bardic Inspiration or the Lucky feat from 5th Edition. It's nature as a universal buffer or debuffer just makes it vague, so translating to something like a Quirk is difficult because they are more structured and deal stuff that is easier to understand. The closest I think you would get is something like "Incite" or "Love", giving a general boost to someone via some declaration.
Hi, Stardust anon once again! Thank you once again! I've decided that I'm just going to use as an offense Quirk! (Supernova would be a super move and all that jaz) thank you so much for the help and I hope you have a good day! Love your blog!
First off, thank you. I'm glad you like my blog and found my advice so helpful. I hope you are having a nice day as well. Second, I would go with something other than "supernova" for a descriptor and just have it be the name of the Super Move. It might just give people the wrong idea and the user is somehow throwing small stars at people. Personally, I imagined your Quirk being similar to Boom Boom from X-Men.
Hey how are you? I hope you're doing well. Here is the second part of my series of asks: a quirk marriage between Electrification and Telepathy. There's a explanation/question that's connected to this but that's going to a separate ask to keep things neat. Thank your for your responses(and honestly all the work you do on this blog). Have a good night(or day) where ever you are.
Thank you, that is very nice of you to say. I like to think I put in effort into what I write and this blog as a whole, so it’s nice to know that it is being noticed. I hope you are having a nice day as well.
This Emitter type Quirk allows the user to interact with electronics within four kilometers of themselves, sending out and receiving signal from them. This makes it so the user can hear and speak through broadcasting devices, such as phones, speakers, and radios. This is all done via a special electronic signal the user's brain has, meaning that any communication they give or receive will be completely silent to anyone around them, allowing the user to communicate and spy on others nearby without being noticed. The also gives the user a general idea of where electronics are located. With enough training, the user may learn to disrupt or even block these signals, completely cutting off communication. This makes the user great in support and gathering intel, especially with how reliant people are on for electronics based communication. The user is able to spy on enemy chatter, send messages without being noticed, send out massive broadcasts to warn others of danger, or find hidden enemies through their communication devices. Though this does rely entirely on such devices being nearby or on another person, making the Quirk next to useless in someplace like the woods or if someone doesn't have their phone on them. Otherwise, the range can be a problem.
