The whirlpool duet GHW9100L washing machine stops at the drain cycle with a F/02 error, not draining and not doing the superfast final spin. The water pump was cleaned and hose attachments inspected for debris. After cleaning, it worked for a small wash, but then stopped again during the drain cycle with the F/02 error. Resuming the cycle completed the load properly. A diagnostic test worked as it should.
The drain pump seems to work, but does not always drain when it should, causing the cycle to get stuck. Possible issues include the water pump, water level pressure switch, or CCU.
The most likely cause is the drain pump. Intermittent operation can be caused by the plastic impeller coming loose from the motor shaft. Inspect the pump with the filter removed. The pump impeller should be about 1/4" from the pump housing and should not vibrate or rattle when running. Check the hose that connects from the tub to the pressure switch for residue buildup. Remove the hose from the pressure switch and blow through it to check for easy air passage.
There is a rattling sound from the pump. The machine is now stuck on the rinse cycle with a SUD error. Cancelling and restarting does not help. The impeller rotates in the plastic housing area and looks like a fan. The small hose that connects to the sensor was difficult to blow through.
The plastic impeller looks like a little fan and can be seen in the hole on the side of the pump housing once the filter is removed. Diagnostic mode also got the F02 error and the pump was not discharging the water. The pump motor is operating but not discharging water, indicating a pump issue.
