We have a sewage ejector pump that handles the whole house and pumps into a septic system. Every once in a while the high water alarm goes off and I force the pump to work. This usually clears whatever is obstructing the pump float. However, recently I got repeated high water alarms. Finally I separated the top enough to look in, and it was just gunk still hanging off the float. I cleared this with a long paint stirring rod. How do I clean a sewage ejector tank without causing any harm? I would be afraid to high pressure wash the tank since it could cause damage to the equipment. I could toss Bio-Clean in, but this needs warm quiet water; however it would do no damage (and maybe no good). What do you suggest?
A hose with water and sprayer. Gloves up to your elbows too. Keep on spraying until the waste is clear and hope that the wasteline to the septic tank is operating just as well. Best Wishes
Open the cover manually operate the float switch to pump it way downand go to town as wheelchair suggested. Scoop out as much of the grey/white floating stuff as you can it's grease. Fill and cycle the system a bunch of times to make sure that the float switches are working properly. Reset them if needed. Seal the cover. Then wait several days for the smell to depart your sinuses.
while the cover is open, flush a toilet and watch where the water is landing. if it is landing ontop of the float, you gotta reposition the pump. when you put the cover back on, it is very, very important that the gasket is sealing 100%.
Stop the water flow into the pit.Open cover, drain down as much water as possible with manual pump control.Shut off electrical power to pumps.wet vac out remaining water.generously sprinkle tide with bleach on all surfaces.let set 20 minutes then use toilet brush to clean surfaces.cover pump pit.turn power back on .flush all toilets to rinse.once every six months or so and the job will be as easy as cleaning the toilet bowl.Good Luck.Wash your hands and face with lemon juice afterwards.OOOOOh the smell ends.
I am afraid that the sewage will over flow when I take off the lid of the ejector. Will that happen?
