I have a 3000lt rain water tank with its own large pump. Pump is a bit noisy for 8hr reflux still runs as the pump is in a corridor between garage and colorbond fence. Neighbours can probably hear it running all day.
I picked up an Ozito 350w Submersible Pump, this morning, and am setting it up with a controllable T piece for back pressure when running the still.
Just wondering if anyone leaves their pump submerged permanently, after powering off?
Haven't found anything rock solid on the Web yet.
I have had a submersible in a 200L pickle drum for a year so far and no problems yet
Mine has been in the water tank for 3 years so far mate. :)
Awesome, thanks guys

mine lives permanently in the pool.
one died after 2.5(?) years, but due to the green Sheds 3 year warranty, it was replaced free of charge.
only thing to beware of is letting it suck up leaves.
i suppose it's not a problem in an enclosed water tank, but after it's support rope broke, the pump sucked up some leaves from the bottom of the pool.
didn't break it, but took ages to flush the mascerated leaves from pipes/fittings/defalg/shotgun etc
Thanks Howard, read somewhere here about leaves clogging up pump and still gear.
Was going to use an old kayak style adjustable strap to keep it around a foot from the bottom of tank.

Why didn't I think about putting it in the pool! What a great idea, a massive tank of water for cooling my little still, much easier than the water tank I bought.
