Casing layer dry, what to do?

Question about dry casing layer

I'm currently doing casings of Hpoo/Straw, cased with 50/50 Verm/Coir mix and a hydrated lyme buffer. They are currently in a martha like contraption. I'm using a coolmist for humidity, and have been keeping humidity levels around the 80-90% level. Some of the casings have been staying nice and damp on the top layer, with the myc growing through here and there, while others appeared to have dryed out on top, with quite a bit less myc growing through the casing layer. The poo is still fairly wet and they have only been birthing for about 5 days now, so on a few of them i can just see the very beginning stages of knotting. My question is, should i mist the dry casing layer with water back to saturation? Should I let them be? Should I attempt to raise the humidity? I guess what I'm really concerned about is that misting the casing layer heavily to rehydrate it will stunt or stop the pinning. The dryer casings don't appear to have any knotting/pinning yet, but i'm unsure as to what my best move here would. Any pointers?

Just mist it lightly over time. Do you have something that sprays a fine mist? If not try those pump spray bottles they sell at most hardware and garden shops. I mist even when they are fruiting, the fine and occasional mist keeps it hydrated without collecting on the fruits and causing them to rot

Yeah, that's what i've been doing is misting with a spray bottle. I'm just worried that the spraying of the casing will stop or slow the pinning process....

That's a valid concern. You humidity should be around 95% up until pins form. If you want to mist, I would recommend using a misty-mate or ultrasonic. I've seen bruising due to a normal spray bottle, and it will compress the surface as well.
