Our community landing has silted in due to several factors. Thought I could use the trash pump that I jet pilings with to suck out the sand and sludge so we could at least launch the bass type boats. It worked great until it didn't work. We moved a bunch of sand and sludge until the outlet line packed with sand and the inlet with sticks. I think it would work with better planning and a way to keep the outlet from kinking. I think I can get my boat out now at least. Was good fun though. If anyone is thinking of using a cheap trash pump to move sand and mud, not gonna work.
If you take your time and have a screen on your suction hose then it will work most of the time.....if you have a plastic shelled pump the seal will fail pretty quick, a honda powered aluminum shell will work fine unless you over work it from my past experiances.....
An airlift is what you need. About a 6 inch diameter pvc 8 ft long. A big air compressor discharge line rigged in the bottom.keep pipe at angle and in direction you want sand to go. I rigged and used one at Runyans shipyard to keep the marine railways uncovered. Takes a large output compressor. You can pump anything that will fit inside the PVC pipe.
We used to call tha a "ByJesus" pump, becaused for some reason ,it worked...Better with some depth...
River camp or down there?
River Mark. Got bigger issues now.
Ron, in physics class we call this a venturi.
Sorry jack I joined the Navy at 17 after dropping out of 9th grade. Eductor is what I named or heard it called. Yes venturi is also the same, I think. They both get the job done.
