The startup and operational monitoring of a horizontal slurry pump are crucial for safe use. Timely handling of any issues can effectively prevent pump damage and extend service life. For slurry pump users, this is especially important. After completing pre-startup inspections, the smooth and stable operation of the pump must be closely monitored.
1.Before operation, fill the sump with clean water, open the pump inlet valve, and close the pump outlet valve.
2. Start the pump, then gradually open the outlet valve once the pump is running.
3. Adjust the slurry feed into the sump according to actual requirements.
4. The opening degree and speed of the outlet valve should be controlled so that the pump does not vibrate and the motor does not exceed its rated current. Maintain the liquid level 0.5–1 meter above the inlet pipe.
5.During operation, regularly inspect and properly adjust the packing gland or replace packing as needed.
6.Check the bearings frequently. The pump must not run with contaminated bearings. If ore or slurry enters the bearing, stop the pump immediately to clean and replace the oil.
7.Bearing temperature must not exceed 75°C.
8.If the bearings overheat at startup, stop the pump and restart after they cool down. If overheating persists, shut down the pump for further inspection.
9.Adjust the feed rate, add water, or regulate the outlet valve as needed. Under no circumstances should the pump run dry, as this will cause severe vibration.
10.Prevent any blocky or oversized materials from entering the pump to avoid clogging or damaging pump liners.
11.Refill lubricating oil based on the oil level condition.
12.Check whether the seal water pressure is normal, whether the water line is blocked, whether the water supply is sufficient, and whether the water quality is clean.
13.Inspect all lubrication points. Ensure oil levels and oil temperature are normal. Lubricating oil must remain clear, and oil temperature must not exceed 50°C.
14.Monitor the motor’s working current and check for any abnormal sounds during operation.
