Sump pump weep hole

I have a sump pump with the check valve attached dirextly to pump(screwed to it). where would I put the weep hole or air hole? Not on the check valve right? so above it? I ask because everyone says not put below check valve but my pump has nothing below it except pump since its screwed into pump.
