The U Series has the same hydraulic performance profiles of their lined counterparts in the S and L Series, and can be applied on existing lined slurry pump installations using a conversion kit.
Impellers Uses the same high chrome impellers as the lined pump series for even greater interchangeability pump out vanes on rear and front (on closed impellers) reduce recirculation within pump optional castings of straight or semi-Francis vanes (from 2 to 6 vanes on certain sizes) offer wider hydraulic options in single sizes.
Bowl/Casing The unlined casing is extra thick high-chrome alloy material hardened to over 650 Brinnell. The suction side is cast in a contoured shape to mate with the impeller eyes to increase efficiency and reduce recirculation in the casing.

Stuffing Box Seal
A classic and reliable sealing method, the stuffing box uses packing rings compressed by a gland to restrict slurry leakage around the shaft. Still one of the most widely used slurry pump seals, it requires seal water supplied at a pressure higher than pump discharge pressure to function effectively.
Expeller or centrifugal Seal
The expeller seal is a dynamic, waterless sealing solution that uses centrifugal force to prevent slurry leakage while the pump is running. It’s an excellent choice for applications where external seal water is unavailable, undesirable, or difficult to maintain. By eliminating the need for gland sealing water, the expeller seal reduces operating costs and simplifies maintenance. A grease-packed static seal prevents leakage when the pump is idle. Ideal for moderate suction conditions, the expeller seal offers reliable performance in tough environments with minimal infrastructure.
Mechanical Seal
Mechanical seals provide superior sealing performance in high-pressure, high-temperature, or environmentally sensitive slurry applications. They use precision-engineered rotating and stationary faces to form a tight seal around the shaft, minimizing leakage even under severe conditions. Schurco Slurry primarily utilizes cartridge-style mechanical seals, which are preassembled, self-contained units that simplify installation and improve reliability. Mechanical seals are ideal for corrosive or abrasive slurries, or in applications where leakage control is critical.
