Sulzer heating jacket concept

Process pumps are used in numerous applications where a specific temperature is required to enable a proper start-up as well as smooth and safe operation. With a properly maintained temperature of the pumped liquid, you will prevent undesired crystallization, increased viscosity and solidification of the liquid.

In such applications, the heating jacket is the solution. The heating jacket maintains a uniform heat transfer to the pump and keeps the liquid at the defined temperature for the purposes of thermal maintenance, heat-up/melt-out, or cooling.

Sulzer has an efficient, easy and cost-effective heating jacket concept for AHLSTAR A and CPE process pumps. The heating jacket is a bolt-on construction which makes the installation easy and fast. The concept includes a jacketed case cover, which ensures the proper temperature of the sealing chamber minimizing the risk of seal failures. Heating or cooling is maintained by steam or water.

Installation and service

The heating jacket is fast, easy and safe to install due to the bolt-on construction. There is no welding and, therefore, no risk of deformation. There is no need for any modifications to a standard process pump, so standard spare parts will fit. Servicing of the pump can be done with the normal procedures, and the heating jacket does not disturb the service of the pump.

Pressure and temperature limits for heating / cooling media supply. Max. 145 psig @ 356°F / 10 bar @ 180°C. Heating / cooling media Steam / water.
