When investing in a septic tanker, you have several options for hose lengths. The hose length affects which tanks you’ll be able to reach. If you want to provide pumping services for clients with septic tanks in harder-to-reach locations, you’ll need a longer hose with a high-pressure pump. On the other hand, if most of your clients allow you to pull right up to the site, this likely won’t be necessary.
The vacuum pump powers the septic tank, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all part. You need the right pumping power for your hose length and diameter and tank size. You can calculate your cubic feet per minute to get an idea of the right pump power for your needs.
Septic tankers come in multiple materials, including aluminum and stainless steel. Aluminum weighs less, making it suitable for heavy-duty trucks with weight restrictions, but typically requires more maintenance and may not last as long. Stainless steel, on the other hand, weighs more but can provide lower operating costs, easier maintenance, and a longer lifespan because of its rust resistance and durability.
Next, consider how many gallons of waste you want your toilet truck to carry at once. Slide-in vacuum trucks come in capacities as small as 300 gallons, while commercial pumper trucks can carry up to 4,000 gallons. We recommend considering your typical route length and disposal sites when selecting your tank size.
You must, of course, consider your budget. Septic pumpers can range anywhere from $50,000 to over $200,000, depending on the model you purchase. If you want to save money on your septic tanker, consider a slide-in tank vacuum truck. Slide-in units allow you to purchase only the septic pumper that you can install directly on your preferred pickup truck.
Vacuum trucks come with different equipment for viewing the tank liquid level. You can choose from the following: Sight eyes, Floating ball systems, Digital readouts. The above options provide varying pros and cons to consider before making your final decision.
If you want more convenience and functionality, you can add a range of features to your septic tanker. We recommend including jetters for cleaning the drain lines or fresh water tanks for easier equipment maintenance.
