Hi, I have a 2011 Corsa 1.2 petrol A12XER engine. Well actually its my daughters I only have it when its broke This time its started losing coolant. I firstly checked oil and exhaust etc and thankfully no signs of any mayonnaise or white smoke. I put it on my ramps and lay under it with inspection lamp to see if spot any leaks and found its dipping from around the top pully area. Does this look like a water pump leak or would you suspect something else ?
I'd replace water pump as they have a small pilot hole which drips when the bearing is away inside
Yes that's the route im going down hopefully this resolves it,
Got my local mechanic to change water pump along with thermostat. Daughter has just called saying water boiling in expansion tank. I'm guessing the guy hasn't bled the coolant properly. Any tips on how to do this on this corsa ?
look here Cooling System Bleed
Not getting anywhere fast with this. That link isn't very informative it says to remove the heating element to vent no clue what is that referring to.. I have tried running up temp to 107 degrees squeezing hoses pulsating revs etc. Ive removed the expansion cap to decompress a after waiting a 10 minutes after car tuned off. Ive loosened the top radiator bleed screw until cant see any air bubbles as far as I can see. Is there a fail safe way of doing this on a corsa D ? Cannot get hold of my mechanic so far but do know he is in poor health. Can anyone offer tried and tested advice for me >
That is a link to the official Vx tech info You can ignore part 10,that is additional work for when you have removed the heater element (heater radiator) to bleed the heater rad which you haven't changed.
