Operating your 6-way valve

Position 1: Filtering (filtration)

This is 99% of your sand filter's job, which is to filter the pool water. The water flows from the pool through the filter and runs back to the pool cleaned.

How long do you need to filter?

It depends on the water temperature of the pool and the disinfection used. The warmer the water, the more you need to filter to prevent algae formation. This is how you calculate your minimum filter time: pool temperature divided by 2 + 2 hours.So at a summer temperature of 28°C, you need to filter for a minimum of 16 hours. This filter time is best divided over 24 hours with short intervals in between. During the winter period and active hibernation, it is best not to take any risks and let your filter work 24 hours a day, especially if permanent frost is expected.

Position 2: Backwash

If the dirt has accumulated in the filter after a while, the filter needs to be flushed out. The water then flows from the pool through the filter from bottom to top, taking all the dirt in the filter with it to the sewer system. So a short maintenance operation, which immediately improves your filtration. In this mode, the filter sand is cleaned for two to three minutes.

It is best to perform a backwash on a weekly basis. The flushing time will depend on the degree of contamination of the filter and will last as long as contaminated water flows through the sight glass of the six-way valve. Check for any additional faucet on this line. Open the faucet for the backwash. Keep in mind that the water level will drop.

Position 3: Rinse

Water flows from the pool through the filter from top to bottom, taking the last of the debris from the filter into the sewer system. This takes about 30 seconds to a full minute. Check for any extra faucet on this line. Open the faucet for rinsing.

Position 4: Emptying (waste)

The water flows from the pool directly into the sewer system. The filter is skipped. In this mode, you drain the pool to the extent that a bottom well is built in.

Position 5: Circulation

This skips the filter and allows the water to flow from the pool through the six-way valve directly back to the pool. Thus, there is no filtering.

Position 6: Closed

Allows you to close the six-way valve, such as for repairs or maintenance.
