I've been vaping since about the beginning of March. I've been making my own juice from the start since it's so much cheaper. I have tasted a few pre-made juices though. My first juice I ever made and that I vaped quite a lot for the first few months was a TFA caramel, and I liked it a lot.
Over time I have vaped several different flavors, and I don't think I'm making them incorrectly because they taste fine at first but over time (and here recently just within a few days) the flavor starts to...I guess you could say "mush" together. I'm not sure how to explain it other than after a short time the juice starts to lose it's flavor and taste..rather bland. It's not like just vaping air, it's more like vaping something that has an absence of flavor yet what amount of flavor that IS actually there tastes kind of gross. If I make a new bottle it will be fine, but it very shortly after (usually the same day) reverts back. I would initially say it's possibly because I don't really ever steep my juice, but my problem with that theory is..
1. Isn't steeping just supposed to improve the flavor, but it's not necessary for it to have flavor in general?
2. I have a bottle of caramel that I steeped for four months and it smelled amazing but tasted like that nasty/nothingness mix.
I'm just not sure what's wrong. I have been vaping that nothingness for the last few months and it eventually happens (as of recently, very soon- whether it's a new flavor or not) to every flavor even the ones that are my favorites. I clean my tank out before changing flavors and I have out heads that are used up and have a black mess around it that can't be cleaned, but even a new head yields this same result.
If anyone could explain to me what this is about and what I can do that would be nice. I'm using a vision vivi nova on an ego twist btw. Thanks in advance.
Alas I'm in the same boat. I used to like my TW American Red Tobacco but now it tastes of weak milk. Horrible flavour from 2 different bottles and fresh atomizers. I think it's your/my taste buds. I'm going to skip it for a few months and see if my buds rejuvinate.
If you smoked analogs for decades (like me), your taste buds are probably shot. I hear they come back after you quit smoking, but I haven't noticed it yet. I've been off analogs and on vaporizers since July and my taste buds are still AWOL. Regardless of which juice I try or what the flavor is supposed to be, I taste nothing or almost nothing.
mine are not much better either, the only that saved me in flavor dept. was buying a dripper, it seems to release so much more flavor than the caged up clearos and tanks.
I am having the same issue. I got new liquids vape one for about an hour then it loses its flavor. I clean my atomizer try another flavor, same thing happens. I don't know if its taste buds or what. The one flavor that so far it hasn't happened to is cinnamon. So I don't know how to fix this.
Steeping can improve flavor on complex juices. Steeping will not improve flavor on crap tasting juices. Your taste buds may be getting used to your same ol' flavor and are becoming "immune". Have someone else who vapes try them and give you an opinion. Try a new flavor.
This! For the most part, juices either taste like crap or they don't right now. I'm not tasting all these flavors I'm supposed to and have been trying to figure it out. I've been rebuilding coils constantly, messing with voltage settings and nothing tastes like it's supposed to. Hopefully in time things will change.
I think a lot of it has to do with the quality of your juice and how it was made. Also take a look at your pg:vg rations and try mixing those up a bit. Virgin vapors has all organic juices that are dripping with flavor and they also will add extra flavoring if you ask for it. hope this helps
Well I highly doubt that's my problem, because I'm 18 and I only smoked for 9 months. Everything else tastes fine to me, and my initial thought was maybe it was where I get my flavors (I've tried TFA and Loranne's so far) but I can't see that being that problem since they do taste good at first; they aren't nasty from the start. I know taste is subjective but as many people as I've seen that have such good things to say about Loranne's, I can't fathom that has anything to do with it- beyond that I actually really liked some of the flavors I bought from there. My best guess would be what eHuman said about my taste buds getting immune. My only qualm there is that, like I said before, I have recently started using a few other flavors and they lost their taste really within days. I've tried cranking up the flavor percentage as well. As far as pg to vg ratios I usually stick with 50/50 mix or a 60pg/40vg. All I guess I can do is change my flavors up more often.
The feeding system matters a lot too. Clearomizers usually tend to mute the taste. All that comes to mind is either get a cheap RBA tank or rebuildable dripping atty and start learning how to make coils. It will spark up flavors to a whole different level. To test this theory simply get 1 or 2 dripping atomizers from Empire Mods or Avid Vapers, preferably 1.5 ohms, and drip on them. Dripping yields the best flavor you can get (yes, it's a hassle at first, and even then you have bottom feeders if you feel you want to go that route or RBA tanks which come the closest to dripping quality). If you can really feel the flavor on those attys then that just means you need to improve your juice delivery system to RBAs/RDAs/dripping attys/maybe try carto tanks. Also vaper's tongue. Try getting some spicy food, cinnamon or even some menthol to refresh your taste buds, then vape your juices again. That and stay well hydrated. Let us know how everything goes!
I've noticed this to the same effect. Switching the juice has resolved this. When you hit on your other juice after a couple hours, the clave will come back VAPE ON
I've had that same thing happen on diy juices and almost always can attribute it to the use with clearomizers or vivis. when I started using Rbas that all changed. I only use Reos now with Rm2 attys and build all my own coils.. Always get the same good consistent results now no matter what juice I'm using. DIY takes a lot of practice and patience to get what works for you.. Hang in there.. PS I have noticed that these clearomizer tanks seems to make juice taste masy after a very short time.. IMHO
When I drink soda, the 1st sip tates strong. As I keep sipping it, I "get used to the taste" and I don't taste it anymore. Or maybe I get used to some of the flavorings, and others pop out. So there's that. There are a lot of people that keep several filled cartos around and alternate through the flavors all day so they don't get "flavor burnout". This isn't to say that flavorings/juice don't change over time. That happens too. And atomizer heat changes the juice in a tank too. This is why drippers say dripping into a standard atty has the best flavor....you can only cook 3 drops at a time and then you refresh.
Yep happened to me too. Switching up flavors help try some very different flavors.. at one point I was putting vanilla on all my diy juices and switching between them did not help at all. Now I have some rootbeer, some sour, and some strong menthol in the rotation
