Shortfill e-liquids are larger bottles of nicotine-free vape juice, usually available in 50ml, 100ml, or 200ml sizes. They’re filled slightly under capacity to leave room for nicotine shots. The rule of thumb is one 10ml nic shot per 50ml, which gives you a 3mg nicotine strength.
In this collection, you’ll find a wide variety of shortfill e-liquids to suit every type of vape kit. High VG vape juice is perfect for sub-ohm kits and high-powered devices, while 50/50 shortfills work best with refillable pod vape kits and MTL tanks. Our range includes popular shortfill liquids from top brands such as Five Pawns, Doozy, and Zeus Juice, to name just a few. If you’re unsure whether shortfills are right for you, you can also check out our full vape liquid collection for even more choice.
Shortfills differ from 10ml bottles of vape liquid because they don’t contain nicotine. Instead, they’re filled to around 80% of the bottle, leaving space for you to add 10ml nic shots and customise your strength.
They’re most commonly used for sub-ohm vaping since sub-ohm kits work best with thicker, high VG e-liquids that come in larger bottles to last longer. This style of vaping uses more juice, so shortfills make practical sense.
That said, shortfills aren’t only for sub-ohm kits. If you use a refillable pod kit and prefer lower nicotine strength but still want more liquid in one bottle, 50/50 shortfills are a great choice. Many brands now release both options, so whether you need high VG or 50/50, you’ll find something that matches your setup. Just check the VG/PG ratio before choosing your shortfill.
Shortfills give you a bigger bottle of e-liquid but are filled slightly below the top. Don’t worry if your 100ml bottle looks a little short - that space is intentional, so you can add your nicotine shots.
You can also use a nicotine-free base shot if you just want to top up the bottle and extend its capacity without adding any nicotine.
Here’s how to get your shortfill ready:
To make things easier, we’ve also put together a quick visual shortfill mixing guide. Follow the steps and you’ll know exactly what to do, making your shortfill journey simple and straightforward.
The best e-liquid for pod vape kits is 50/50 VG/PG. These are usually nic salt e-liquids, but you can also find 50/50 shortfills. Both are thinner blends that work perfectly with the higher resistance coils used in pod kits to deliver that MTL draw.
That’s just the rule of thumb though. Some pod kits also support DTL vaping if you swap the pod or coil, so in those cases you can use high VG shortfills instead.
No, you don’t need to steep shortfills after mixing. Just add your nic shots, shake the bottle well, and leave it for around 10 minutes before vaping. Shortfills are already pre-steeped and ready to go.
That said, if you prefer to steep them - especially dessert flavours - the taste often develops into a deeper, more intense flavour over time.
Shortfills offer much better value. With nic salts, you only get 10ml per bottle, which doesn’t last long. With shortfills you’re getting 50ml, 100ml, or even 200ml bottles, so you get far more e-liquid for your money.
That depends on the range and price. Some 200ml bottles give amazing value when compared to buying two 100mls. But we also stock 100ml bottles from top brands that cost under £5 - in that case, buying a few 100mls could work out even better value than one 200ml.
It’s completely up to you. Freebase shots give more of a throat hit, while salt nic shots deliver a smoother inhale and quicker nicotine satisfaction. Both types are available in different VG/PG ratios, so you can pair them with whichever shortfill you’re using.
Shortfills avoid the 10ml TPD limit because they’re sold as nicotine-free e-liquid. The law only applies to nicotine-containing e-liquids, which are capped at 10ml. With shortfills, you buy the larger bottles and then add your own 10ml nic shots separately.
