Have mod producers developed their own type of battery that you can only buy from them, or can you just use regular AA batteries? Like Duracell or Energizer, for example? And why are those nice wood mods so expensive?
Double AA batteries can't produce the power needed to vape. They are also low voltage compared to li ions that are 3.7 nominal volts. AA batteries are 1.5 volts. The wooden mods are hand crafted and not mass produced.
I only know of one mod that CAN take regular AAs in a pinch and that is the altoid box mod from deejstuff. I'm sure it probably works better with the standard mod batteries but it's supposed to be able to take regular batteries too. Yeah, the wooden mods take a lot of time to make.
Most places that sell APVs (mods) carry batteries to make it more convenient for the buyer to get everything they need from one place. I haven't seen any APVs that use standard batteries, and I believe it's for good reasons. For more information on battery safety and APVs (mods) please read the thread linked below:
You can make a good PV that runs on four nimh AA's, the problem is it'll always be heavier and bigger than a li-ion mod.
