It's a submersible pump, meaning it sits down in your sump pit and turns on automatically when water rises. The switch is built right in – it's an integrated diaphragm switch that activates when water gets 10-13 inches deep and shuts off when it drops to 4-7 inches. It comes with a leg extender kit (three 3.5-inch legs) that lifts the pump off the very bottom of the pit, helping to keep debris from getting sucked in. The pump body is made from epoxy-coated cast iron, which is super durable and resists corrosion. Inside, it has a non-clog vortex impeller (handles smaller solids better), upper and lower bearings, and a tough mechanical seal. The motor is a 1/3 horsepower continuous-duty shaded pole motor (115 Volts, 9.0 running amps) with thermal overload protection – it's CSA listed for safety in the US and Canada. It can move up to 2760 gallons per hour (GPH) with a 5-foot vertical lift, and can shut off water up to 18 feet high.
