    risco

i about to order a sump to help feed my 175cc. but i see no reason to ditch stock pump just yet as it works fine holds psi just want to take some strain off and down the road when i do a full fuel system il already be one step ahead now my question. has anyone done this and know what kind of fuel line i need to connect sump to stock pump. also so far is between beans or xdp for the sump unless someone has a better other option. as always thank you in advance

I've used 1/2" Parker push-loc hose to a quick connect to the stock fuel pump.

    This is what I use. Summit Racing® Twist-Tite Hose SUM-220786 - SummitRacing.com

    Thank you!! Ordered it

What does all this hose have to be blue!!!!!!

Having just been under my truck for an HFCM swap, are you guys using 1/2" (-8AN) because you have larger injectors? The OEM line in my 2003 is a 3/8" (-6 AN). I'm curious because I am wanting to eliminate the straw in my tank.

I think the outlet on the sump is 1/2 inch.

Btw beans diesel has a sump is the cheapest and nicest one plus you get to pick from 3 colors will post pics when arrives

    Karls03

Why not use one of these and save yourself $130? They're low profile, about a 1/4 inch (why would you run you truck so low on fuel that 1/4 inch would be an issue?) and they are much less expensive than a sump. IMHO, unless you redesign the floor of your fuel tank to go to dip down into a "V" with your sump in the center of said low point, a sump isn't that much better of a design than a bulkhead fitting. I mean who really runs their truck THAT low on fuel? -6 AN bulkhead fitting -8 AN bulkhead fitting

Would you need a pre-pump filter to do this with the stock pump? I am pretty sure my shower head fell off in my tank and figured I would just get a sump instead of fixing the pick up tube

    MWilbur516

No pre filter required , the HFCM has the filter in it. Just sump to HFCM with new fuel line and cap the old line at the top of the tank.

    MWilbur516

Just run your truck as low as possible on fuel before doing this.

Thanks for the quick response, I have a hydraulic stand for a dirt bike should be perfect to hold the tank up and move it around

If you have the OEM skid plate it's a pretty easy mod to extend the mounting points. This allows the sump and line to be protected from roadway hazards.

    MWilbur516

Yep, its just finding the time to do it. We've been slammed at work lately. My sump is on, my skid plate is leaning up against my fourwheeler. I need to grab some 1.5" spacers and some longer bolts. I also need to go pick up the truck I just bought, and get a regulated return, and a ported intake, and........... it'll all get done one day. Lol

    Good point !

What would be the fitting to connect the 1/2" sump hose to the stock HFCM fitting?

    toren302

Its a standard 3/8 fuel line fitting for the feed. 5/16 for return incase you were wondering. A 6.4 HCFM is 1/2 feed and 3/8 return.

    wick89gt

The Bean's sump is a 3/8 npt. Summit racing sells all the fittings to get to the correct size you want for whatever fuel system you choose to use. The fittings come in all different flavors. Red, blue, black, silver, whatever.

Bump for an update! I need to fix my sender since its stuck in the full position, wasn't considering a sump at first, but if the draw straw is going to be a problem in a few days/months/years, why not just do the beans sump and reach through the hole to un-stick the float rather than dropping the tank/pulling the bed off.
