For centrifugal pump, minimum flow recirculation to avoid possible damage of pump due to cavitation, system stability, internal circulation, return thrust force damage bearing, etc.

Pump recirculation is provided for pump protection. Every pump has its minimum flow below which pump cannot be operated. This is because at low flow pump may damage due to vibrations. There are two types of minimum flows: process minimum flow and pump minimum flow. Circulation line is provided if pump min is greater than process minimum.
