The pony rod, also known as the extension rod, is the key connection parts between the power end and the fluid end, and its role is to transmit power to the fluid end. One end is connected to the crosshead, the other end is connected to the piston rod by a clamp, and its outer round surface is equipped with a stuffing box assembly. In the reciprocating motion, the outer circle of the pony rod and the seal in the stuffing box rub against each other, and in order to ensure wear resistance, the outer surface of the pony rod is treated with hard chrome plating. The pony rod is made of 35CrMo, and the surface is smooth after chrome plating, which greatly improves the wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
