The tank here is slow enough to fill but has instant pressure when emptying. Haven't used it in a long while when I put the pto going it dumped about a litre of oil out the exhaust Checked the hose going up to the top of the tank and it hasn't sucked In or anything. Any ideas?
Air leak on suction pipe
New suction pipe
Then a leak through a gate valve
Had that once, the hydraulic pipes for the gate ran through the tank in a steel tube, the tube rusted away and sucked air through either end, pipes along the chassis and welding a patch either end cured it.
Nope it's sealed there perfect if you take the hose off the top of the pump the suction didn't feel great. And why did it pump a litre of oil out There external in this
Check the pump control handle hasn't slipped on its axis.
I'd be sure it's OK there as it is un neutral when the leaver is bang on if you get me. Although the leaver is cronic stiff
Take it off and check the cone is in centre when the lever is in the middle.
It's a lot easier for a pump to make pressure than vacuum
Maybe some vanes are stuck? Suck some diesel up through the excaust and see if that helps
What's trowing me is why its spreading fine. And why I'd dumped the oil out
It filled with oil while lying, through the drip oiler, no? Put the hose (running water) on each joint to see when it starts to suck ................
Pump ripped out putting new vains in they seem fine. Anything g else to look for
Sort that lever out while the pump is in bits
Was the oil that got thrown out of the pump vacuum pump oil ? Had the level in the resevoir dropped ? Might be worth replacing the oil seals on the pump as you have it in bits. If you remove the 4 bolts holding the changeover valve down, and lift the valve out, you will probably find water and oil in the recess under the valve, clean that out and put back together. 90% of the time the oil and water will be the reason for the valve being stiff.
Yeah it was vacum pump oil the reservoir was at tbe correct level afterwards. Ok will rip off that top cover thanks
