Time has come for my brother to change his slurry pump after several years of new parts and welding parts on the current doda. He will be pumping all of his own slurry (400 cows on sawdust, with all wash water) over his grassland and up to my tower over winter to then spread when we are nvz open. Never piped it up to the tower before but we have enough pipe. Question is which is the best most reliable pump now a days, if there are any, and which will pump the furthest, as the tower is aprox 1 mile from his lagoon. (5” and 4” pipe.) relatively flat. just to make it clear we have pumped to the fields near the tower previously so know we probably can get there already. Just don’t want to buy a crap pump as they are all up round £10,000 now a days…

I should say we aren’t exactly extatoc about the doda, seems to always want for something and the local dealer never has anything on the shelf. Pump parts direct is good but seems to of got mighty expensive. but I guess sometimes better the devil you know…?

Bauer is a good pump

I run a couple of cri-man pumps,only been into the gearbox on one and that was operator error. A doda won’t pump our thick slurry but they’re a good pump on watery slurry,cheap to buy and cheap to run. Bauer pump here pumped well but cost a fortune to run,I’d struggle to buy another.

We’re in to the gearbox nearly every time we use the pump for difrent bearings / shafts. Got to the point the last two times we have replaced literally everything in there to say it’s practically a new one and still having issues. SK/doda dealer just keeps throwing parts at the job which are mighty expensive and always a week away, pump parts direct no better on price but quicker turn around. Think there must be something running out of line somewhere, having got the grant approval for a ‘chopper pump’ thinking might be better off to start a fresh. open to any colour/brand of pump, not doing mega amounts here just needs to be reliable! I think the obvious 3 are doda/Bauer/criman, but all 3 being up round 10,000 makes you wonder…

£3400 for my last cri-man but four years ago,surely it can’t be double?

Granted were getting quotes as a full pump ready to go so we can keep the other pump as a back up or put in line if needed so that includes pump gearbox pto shaft frame it sits on and return to pit pipe work.

If you are lucky to be getting a hand out to buy one get a Bauer

what is "we are nvz open"?

Stick with a doda hd 35. They just keep going yours must have something wrong with it. To be causing you trouble like that. Had a Bauer for a short period of time and was always doing things to that and that really did cost a fortune. Never again. M doda is more farmer friendly

We’ve just bought a pump. My homework on it mostly came back with if you want a simple, farmer friendly pump thats not gonna break the bank then just buy a Doda. I think there’s different requirements from a farmer just using it themself & a contractor going out day in, day out & doing serious hours with it.

The best way to make a pump last when pumping abrasive materials, is to get a pump much bigger than you need and run it slow. This will minimise abrasion but achieve the same result.

Am I not right I thinking tho but there’s not really much above a doda 35hd or Bauer1000 with out going silly money for an American power sucking pump…?

Seems like the cooling jacket likes wearing holes in it for fun and contaminating the oil resulting in all out failure.

As In the closed period over winter where you can’t spread? Irish call it a slurry ban i think

All the local contractors to here run Bauer so that says allot. They look to have allot of metal in em compared to the doda
