Screw Pump Description

A screw pump is one of the popular types of pump equipment. It is widely used in industry and everyday life. Screw pumps are used to transfer liquids with high or low viscosity along an axis. They are positive displacement pumps that can have one or more screws. Screw pumps are developed based on Archimedes' screw principle. Today, screw pumps are commonly seen in agricultural and irrigation applications. Designed as positive displacement pumps, screw pumps create a partial vacuum through the movement of the screws and distribute high axial force during pumping.

Working Principle

The working principle of screw pumps is based on the rotation of the rotor positioned inside the stator. The rotor has a chain of sealed chambers. During the rotor’s rotation inside the stator, these chains move spirally along the pump axis. As a result, the liquid’s structure or content does not change. In short, the operation of screw pumps can be summarized as follows: at the bottom of the pump body, a feed opening allows the liquid to enter the internal working chambers, where it is captured by the rotor blades and pushed to the upper part of the chamber. This completes the pumping function. The capacity of screw pumps can be calculated based on the pump’s dimensions, the size of the screw surface, and the rotor’s rotation speed.

2HM / 2VM series twin screw pumps can transfer various fluids that are not solid or highly viscous. Twin screw pumps have a wide range of applications, reliably transferring fluids containing gas or different liquids without risk of corrosion or lubrication issues. Thanks to the specially designed pump inlets and outlets, sufficient fluid remains in the body even when the pump is not operating, ensuring good self-priming performance and quick drainage from the inlet line.

A specially designed bypass valve directs fluid from the discharge to the suction side under high-pressure conditions to reduce the operating torque. Power is transferred from the main drive gear to other gears via independently lubricated synchronous gears, providing loss-free and steady flow. This allows reliable fluid transfer and protects the pump even during short-term dry operation. The specially designed hydraulic structure ensures pulse-free fluid transfer from the suction to the discharge side as the shaft is driven. Twin screw pump bodies can be chosen from different designs to allow the transfer of various fluids at different temperatures.
