Users report frequent drain pump failures in LG front-loading washers, specifically the impeller breaking off the motor shaft. The OE error is common, and no debris is found in the filter/pump housing, only lint. The drain hose is clear of obstructions.
Users suspect the pumps are cheaply made or that there's a flaw in the impeller connection. Some have tried epoxy to reattach the impeller, but it doesn't hold. A "super pump" replacement or an aluminum impeller is desired. One user suggests the play between the plastic impeller and brass drive causes hammering and premature wear. They plan to glue the impeller to the brass drive with JB weld to fill the void.
Another user suggests drilling a small hole in the impeller and shaft and inserting a dowel.
