Stainless steel drainage pump designed for clean and dirty water for domestic, commercial and industrial users emptying sumps, tanks, cellars, pools, etc. Perfect for when water levels start to rise. A submersible pump (or sump pump) is a hermetically sealed device, that can successfully operate whilst submerged under water. Their main purpose is to drain away large amounts of liquid, moving it quickly and effectively from one location to another and they are suitable for a range of domestic and commercial applications. Whether you’re looking to keep your basement dry and waterproof or you need to drain excess rainwater from a recent storm, a submersible water pump could be the ideal solution for you. Different types of submersible pump ----------------------------------- Submersible pumps are designed to tackle both clean and dirty liquids of different viscosity and, dependent upon the depth of water, there are two main models to choose from.
Also known as a ‘sump pump’. Standard models are able to function whilst partially or fully immersed in water and, thanks to the installation of a float switch, they can turn themselves on and off as required. Once the water in your basement reaches a certain level, the pump will automatically kick into action – draining away excess water before you even notice the problem.
In some situations, it may be necessary to invest in a puddle pump. This particular type of pump doesn’t have to be submerged for it to work and is capable of dealing with much smaller volumes of water (i.e. a puddle), without overheating or damaging itself in the process. What’s more, as it avoids the need for a chamber, it’s incredibly versatile and can either be used as required (in multiple locations) or installed permanently in a fixed installation. As a result of these features, puddle pumps are the perfect option for many different applications. They’re most commonly used for emergency flood relief during severe weather conditions. The device can be placed on almost any surface, either internally or externally, and used to pump away shallow rainwater – quickly and effectively. This significantly reduces any water damage. They can also be used for: - basement drainage (e.g. following a burst pipe or leak) - swimming pool drainage - draining lift shafts - removing nuisance water from flat surfaces (e.g. roofing or flooring) - effective water transfer - emptying tanks - emptying underpasses and tunnels - emptying showers and utility rooms Most puddle sucker pumps need to be switched on and off manually. However, some models – including the Ego500 SE LS auto – are fitted with a level sensor. This means, as soon as water is detected and the puddle reaches a depth of 1mm, the pump will start to work automatically.
The main difference between a standard submersible pump and puddle pump, is the volume of water they can successfully handle. Therefore, to decide which is the best one for your requirements, you need to assess the depth of water that you need to pump away. If it’s relatively low (i.e. 1-3mm), a puddle sucker pump is likely to be the right option for you. You should also consider whether you’d like the pump to work automatically or manually, how quickly you need it to pump the water, as well as your available power supply and budget.
Here at JT Pumps, we are an industry-leading provider of effective yet economic pumping solutions. We offer a diverse range of submersible pumps, including sump pumps that can handle clean and dirty water and pumps that are suitable for both liquids and solids of different viscosity and volume.
