Part Description: Unlike North American tube fittings, which rely on a flare for sealing, European fittings are designed with a ferrule which bites into the tubing when compressed by a threaded nut. They are generally referred to as bite type fittings. DIN 2353 Bite Type tube fittings were originally designed to be used with rigid steel tubing in hydraulic systems. Now they also see widespread use in systems plumbed partially or completely with flexible hydraulic hose.

To identify Metric DIN 2353 threads, you can first refer to the tube nut, if it is available, to read the fitting size and series that is stamped onto the nut. If no nut is available, or no size is stamped, then you can identify the fitting size by using the table found on Pulsar’s Hydraulic Thread & Flange Dimensions page and one of the following measurements:

Measure the tube O.D. and the male compression thread O.D. Measure the tube O.D. and the size of the wrench required for the tube nut. Measure the O.D. of the compression thread and the I.D. of the fitting body where the tubing will be seated.

Pulsar adapters are for general hydraulic use. Pressure ratings are dependent on size and thread design. Whenever possible, elbows and tees are forged one-piece designs rather than braised from components. However, where manufacturing quantities are insufficient to warrant forging, parts are braised.

Note: Since our primary business is hydraulic hose, we sell our DIN adapters without the nuts and cutting rings, as the bare fitting will attach directly to female DIN 2353 hose fittings. When ordering the same parts for use with steel tubing, nuts and cutting rings must also be ordered separately. Use metric bonded seals with metric port plugs for a positive seal.
