    SSWM Stocked Chainlink Fencing

We stock chainlink fencing in 1800mm high by 10 metre length rolls, with a wire diameter of 2.5mm in grade 316.

Custom chainlink fencing is also available.

Stainless Steel Chainlink Fencing also known as chain mesh fencing, diamond mesh fencing, cyclone fencing and chain wire fencing. Stainless Steel Chainlink is a popular fencing solution due to its effectiveness, ease of installation, corrosion resistance and long asset life.

Chain link is manufactured with stainless steel wires that are bent and interlocked in a diamond pattern.

What are other uses for Stainless-Steel Chain-link fencing?

The product can be used in the following applications:

    • Roof support in underground mine locations where the ground water contains chloride ions
    • Rock Fall Netting for quarriers and road cuttings to prevent rock falls

What are the typical applications used for Stainless-Steel Chain-Link Fencing?

It is typically used in Coastal & remote locations to protect critical infrastructure. These include the following:

    • Power stations
    • Fuel Storage Depots
    • Airports
    • Detection Centres
    • Power distribution points
    • Telecommunication installations
    • Maritime locations

What should you consider when using Stainless-steel Chain-link fence on Galvanised fence posts?

We would always recommend that you use similar materials but understand that there are times when this is not possible. The fence posts will typically be a Galvanised product which we know will have a reduced asset life unless they are properly maintained. To improve the asset life of the Fence posts additional protective coatings can be applied to improve the time between maintenance. Taking this approach will extend the maintenance frequency on the fence posts.

What edges can I get Stainless-Steel chain-link fencing in?

The products come in both Barbed and Knuckle Selvedge. It is important that you specify which finish you are looking for on the top and bottom section of the fence.

Can I bury part of the Stainless-Steel Chain-link fence in the ground?

By selecting the right grade of Stainless steel and understanding the soil conditions there should be no problems burying the Chain link fence. Stainless Steel Grade 316 is typically used in these applications.

What sort of Maintenance is required on Stainless-Steel Chain-Link Fencing?

If you select the right grade of Stainless Steel then your chain link fence should not require maintenance. It may be necessary due to the movement of the ground to have to tighten the Tension wires and bracing cable. Where there is intermediate rainfall then the chain link fencing may develop a “tea stain” and this is considered as a decorative issue only.

In which environments would you use Stainless-Steel Chain-Link Fencing?

Typically, we refer people to the Australian Standards for Corrosion Zones (AS 2423). This Standard classifies areas into different areas based on the corrosion rates so engineers can use this information to design structure to last. Essentially Australia can be divided into six (6) zones and uses a classification of C1 to C5 and CX, with the lowest corrosion rates at C1 and the highest rates at CX. Stainless Steel is suitable in all zones across Australia however, it is best suited in the C4 to CX zones.

What obvious differences are there between Stainless Steel and Galvanised products?

Stainless steel is a non-corrosive material while Galvanised materials have a coating over carbon steel and carbon steel is a corrosive material. The Galvanised coating is designed to corrode in preference to the Carbon steel meaning that once it has corroded the carbon steel underneath will start to corrode. If the galvanised coating is damaged, then this will be the first place that corrosion occurs. Once the corrosion has taken hold then it will be only a short time before the wire will fail.

Is Stainless-Steel Chain-Link Fencing as strong as Galvanised products?

Yes, the Yield and Tensile strength of Stainless steel is higher than Carbon Steel. This means that Stainless steel will be able to withstand impacts better than Carbon Steel. The wire diameter of the Stainless Steel Chain link fencing is typically 2.5mm while the Galvanised equivalent is 3.15mm. The galvanised products on offer include a corrosion allowance factor that Stainless Steel doesn’t require.

Where can I find weights, dimensions and specifications?

We have a datasheet for each product item, these include a to scale image, specifications, dimensions and weights. These are found on the website in the far right column of the product tables. We also include a link to the relevant datasheet in all quotes, proformas and invoices.

When will my order be despatched?

If we receive your order before 9am, it will be dispatched on same day.

Can I use my own freight company?

Absolutely, we welcome you to use your own freight company.

Can I pay over the phone?

Will you cut my mesh to any size?

No. We only cut across the width of the roll once. To enable speed to market we have all specifications in pre-cut 2 m rolls in 1245mm wide and 10m rolls in widths above 1550mm which are ready to be dispatched upon order.

Will you cut my mesh while I wait?

Please place your woven wire orders that require cutting by11amfor same day cut and pickup by2.30pm

Should I prearrange a visit to your showroom?

Please do, to enable us to assist you with your enquiry and requirements without distractions.

Are you open on the weekends? Or what are your opening hours?

Our opening hours are 8.30am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday

Do you sell different size welded panels?

Our stocked size is 1200 x 2400mm. However for large volumes panels can be custom made.

How are our stainless steel welded panels (1200 X 2400MM) transported?

On a double skid for interstate and country deliveries, no double skid is usually required for local deliveries or local pickups.

Can mesh be identified from a sample?

Yes, please either send or bring your mesh in for identification. If emailing a photo, please ensure it is against a ruler, so we can identify the mesh count, and wire diameter.

Do you only sell stainless steel?

Yes, as our name suggests we sell only Stainless Steel Wire & Mesh.
