Cheapest satisfying pod system to use, refillable

Pod System Recommendations

Looking to try a pod for on the road. Will be refilling so looking for a satisfying system that has the cheapest empty pod refills. Any recommendations? Trying to cut back on cigs, so something that will help with that. I bought some freebase nic and a small amount of nic salt to compare, also heard nic salt might be better for pods. Also heard you might need to use more nic to get a satisfying hit in a pod, is that true? Any info on how long the actual battery lasts in pods, since not replaceable guess you have to buy a new system when the battery fails.

If the pod does not work out/satisfy how about a pen/tube type system? Something not too big. Any fairly small pen type systems that have a STANDARD type replaceable battery? Don't know much about them, guess some use tanks that can be used on mods, guessing those would be fairly large. Years ago I had something called a "Big Stick" (actually I still have it), not TOO big, used a clearomizer, was not a bad system. Don't remember who actually made it. Could actually still use it if I could figure out what type of clearomizer it uses.

The Justfog Minifit is small, refillable, inexpensive, and gives a pretty darn good vape. You can get a kit (device + pod + usb cable) for 13 bucks (usd), and 3-packs of pods for 7usd at fasttech. The pods last for many refills.

As for nic-level, it depends on what you are used to and what kind of throat hit you want. For reference, I use 10mg freebase in my primary vapes, at around 15-20w ... I use 18mg freebase in my minifit. If you are just trying to quit, you might need more nic, and if higher freebase nic-levels give too much throat hit, you can use nic-salt instead (or a mix of the two).

i use icare 2 (outdated but still using) and 30mg nic salt to cut (not reduce) my analog urge, whenever i feel like smoking, 2-3 puff will kill that thought ....

Today technology i think minifit is perfect for you, cheap, reliable and small.

I just got the Vaporesso Renova Zero pod, and it's actually really good with nicotine salts. (you definitely need high nicotine with it) You don't change the coil, it's integrated into the pod and you replace those for about 3.50 each. They last a decent amount of time though. The pods are refillable so it's cost effective. The size is very small and shirt pocket friendly.

Another pod mod that is getting good reviews is the Smok Nord. You have a choice of coil, 1.4 which is good with salts, and the .6.. You do change the coils, and it has longer battery life but it is refillable and the coils are inexpensive so it's cost effective as well. Its slight bigger than the Zero, but not by much.

Next up is a UWell Whirl 22. It's a really good little kit that is not too big, but it is bigger than a pod mod, although more battery life.

Up to you likely which you would prefer.

Anything you get you will want to get two of, so that you can continue to vape while you charge, and a backup in case something happens to one.

I've had a pretty good experience with the Geekvape Flint Kit. They are fairly inexpensive (Typically south of $30), and the coils (Not truly a pod system; Kinda like a small refillable tank) are typically south of $10 for a pack of 5. I like the 1.2 ohm coils the best. I've only been able to find these coils w/ Vapordna (Most have the 1.6 ohm coils, which are a bit anemic to me). I vape Halo Turkish 18mg out of them, and find it to be satisfying on it's lowest setting. The device has 3 adjustments (Red = 3.2v, Blue = 3.5v, Green = 3.8 v). Positives= Small, pretty decent out and about device; Small tank, but top cap is is push to fill. Negatives: Seems like I notice a voltage drop as the battery declines (Maybe that's just me); 1.2 ohm coil availability is limited for now.

Vaporesso Zero- I liked it, but tend to take a slow draw, and draw activation on it was too sensitive, so it didn't work for me.

Nord - not bad, esp. for a Smok product. As Opinionated mentioned, the replaceable coil may make it the most cost effective, assuming the battery portion lasts. I've seen 5pk of coils for only around $10, and I haven't seen another pod system yet with pods costing that low. But the Nord is button activated.

You could go with Juul. I haven't priced them, but so many mfgs. make compatible refillable pods, they might be fairly inexpensive. And you'd have the advantage of knowing with it's popularity, pods should be available quite a while. This can be important, because I have an HCigar Akso pod, which I love (my favorite pod so far), but finding the pods can be difficult.

Innokin EQ is nice, with a good sized pod. I don't like dirty coils and rebuild my RTAs very frequently, but can fill these 3-4 times and they still taste good.

I haven't tried it, but the Atopak Magic has a pod with replaceable cotton/wicking that could possibly extend the life of the pod.

If you abandon pods, but want something small, the Innokin Goby gets high marks from veteran users here. Not a pen style, but very pocketable.

Myself - I use pods a little, but my main vape is a True MTL tank on a Artery Nugget or Vaporesso Target Mini mod - very tiny as RTA/Mods go, and it's almost free to use when you consider the cost of wick and wire. Especially with diy juice.

sort of. There are only a few functional differences I know of between nic salts and regular nic.

Nic salt is less studied, and more variable in what it contains. A salt is an acid reacted with a base. Nic is a base so just about any acid can be used.

As for what is vapable in a pod though it shouldn’t actually make much of a difference.

Yes. Pods are almost always MTL systems and often quite weak ones at that. As a result they just don’t vaporize all that much liquid, so the liquid needs to be stronger. This is why people talk about salts and pods. Salts can be made stronger with the same amount of throat hit. Regular style MTL systems usually top out strength at 24mg/ml, whereas pods have been known to go up to 50mg/ml

the batteries are generally rechargeable, via USB, but yes.

depends on what you mean by “standard”. AA, C, D? Nope. They don’t have enough voltage. The de facto standard for replacable batteries in vapes is the 18650 which while usually 3.7v, comes in various ampherages and discharge rates. There are other issues too. It gets a bit complicated.

Lot of good info, thanks. By "standard" batteries I meant standard as in vaping batteries like the 18650s I use in a mod. The one pod I found with a replaceable battery, looks like some proprietary type so would probably not be cheap. The replacement "pods", looks like $2 each seems to be a good price (usually packs of 5?) Some good choices here, will sort through all info and make a decision. And maybe post a pic of my "Big Stick" I think it has a fairly standard connection for the clearomizer, same connection as some of my really old "looks like a cigarette with orange LED on end".

I'm on here looking at pods too so take this for what it is. If you decide not to go with a pod the smok priv v8 is one of the most compact kits you can get with an 18650. It consists of a mod, tank and battery so you can replace the different parts if one thing goes or you want to change things up. With the baby beast coil availability won't be an issue and good as the kit is that tank really comes alive with a more powerful mod if your needs advance. I've tried quite a few setups over the past few years. I liked this one a lot and it's the closest I got to actually quitting cigs. My downfall is not being able to keep it in my pocket. I would forget to grab it and end up regressing. If that's not a problem for you I'd definitely recommend it.

I think I’ve tried them all. Found the vladdin and have never looked back. In fact it’s so good,Imo, I quit using all my other mods. Ceramic does take a pod full to break in for full flavor but when it’s broke in, oh man it’s great vape. Flavor is stellar! Vapor production is amazing. Suits me perfectly and I’ve been vaping for 8yrs!

I second the GeekVape Flint. Just took a trip to FL and it worked perfectly. No leaks with pressure changes on the plane and loaded with high mg nic-salt just a few small stealth vapes and I was satisfied. Best little vape system I have spent money on. I pick this thing up more often than I pick up my Orion DNA and that is saying alot. Not a pod system but just as small and the coil are much cheaper than any pod system.

I got a vladdin too but my experience was much different. The pods in the kit were great, but the stuff in the replacement pack not so much. Serious serious leaking and dry hits. It also needed some fairly high nic juice to make it work for me.

My suspicion is the vladdin is basically a cigalike repackaged as a pod. It’s got the same battery I’m pretty sure.

Makes me wonder how well the average pod would compare to a cigalike battery on a moldy old CE4 with modern juice.

Agree 100%. Extremely simple, tiny tank, easy filling (I can fill it when driving)... can be used on any regulated VW mod. I also agree that 1.2 ohm coil is better and when used w RTA just over 1.0 is the best. Tiny battery that comes is my smallest mod that I can use with my other RTAs as long as I use coil 1.0 or bigger. There is no single pod system that can beat Flint in regard to quality vape and easiness of use.

Pods seem to me to be largely a repackaging of old cigalike technology with salt juice to give them more kick along with the attempt to return to the razor blade model.

Filling flint tank takes no more than 1-2 seconds with push of thumb and hand holding mod and steering wheel. Opening bottle of juice is a little longer but can be made without taking eyes from a road... the same as opening any bottle of soft drink. During average stop light I can fill 5 flint tanks. Yeah, I can fill Flint tank safely when driving... it is more dangerous to look on gps or changing radio to particular setting.

I’ll believe it when I see it from a suitably safe distance. I’ll buy the stoplight thing though. Sitting at a stoplight isn’t driving.

Sure you can. For starters the flint isn’t an rta. It’s a MTL AIO carto tank with an internal battery. A really small one. There’s no cotton to change. It’s an itty bitty drop in cartridge device. About the size of that 18350 mech you have pictured. Maybe a bit bigger.

For a pod mod I would choose the Aspire Nautilus AIO. Works very well with high-nic salts ans gives a great MTL hit. Large internal battery (1000mah), large capacity tank, replaceable coils, on/off/fire button light weight, pocket-friendly. I've seen them for as low as 25 bucks.

For a stick mod it doesn't get much cheaper than the Boulder Rock. Typical stick pod with small battery (360mah). Refillable pods, on/off/fire button, with loose MTL draw - and it is a bit noisy. Indestructible plastic body, on/off switch. Can be easily found for 10 bucks, which makes it almost disposable.

My favorite mod/tank combo for MTL right now is the Vandy Vape AP, which looks similar to the GV Flint. Large internal battery (900mah), small MTL tank with replaceable coils, on/off/fire button. power level adjustment. Capable of a tight MTL hit (adjustable air-flow) and vapes very well with high-nic salts. These are a bit more at $35 give-or-take. I really like mine.

Replaceable coils and refillable and it vapes well. To be honest the best thing to vape is the nic salts at 36mg/ml or higher if you're just giving up smoking...this will give you the satisfaction you need. Good luck to you
