Hi, I bought a Farmall M from a guy and he had bought a new water pump for it, so I changed it and also bought a new radiator for it. The new water pump leaks and trying to find a way to tighten the seal without taking all apart again. What is the best way to do it? Thank you T
Guy you bought it from have receipt for it??? Take it back. Or if your set on tightening the packing, with the radiator out remove fan and then the two piece pulley and the packing nut will be right there.

Hi, I bought it on Big iron auction, so do not have the guys contact information. Can I do it with the radiator in? thank you for your help
I would say no with radiator in. I suppose it can be done if your patience is really good and willing to lose some skin on your fingers.
Something else you mite try. Remove the belt and then thread the pulley all the way tight and It might expose enough of the brass nut to tighten it up a little bit. B worth a try.
The brass packing nut should protrude beyond the pulley you sure the new pump uses the packing like the original did ?
I was wondering same thing. If new pump has just a seal
Number 22 in the link is the packing nut.
Well hopefully you have the email notification turned on and you come back to this post. In the link is some information from what I believe is a tractor club in New Zealand. There are links there to a lot of European IH models that I believed are written in Dutch. However, there are links to some manuals written in English. The last link in the letter series group is a repair manual for an M and all the variants. I believe it is a very early printing by IH. In the manual following page 50 is several cut away diagrams. There are a lot of technical specifications for the tractor placed in the call outs of those diagrams. That Cub electrical book is very good for beginners as well. Enjoy! Rick
