IMPORTANT Before proceeding with the clearances measurements, put the mud pump in safety conditions, avoiding any unpredictable rotation. Example: to wedge with a wooden wedge both the sides op the contact area between the pinion and the gear. Rotate the eccentric shaft till reaching the condition of connecting rod 1 in horizontal position (perpendicular to the applied force). Position the jack and the dial gauge as shown in the figure, paying attention to the note. Apply a maximum force of 1 ton. Repeat the same operation with the connecting rod 3.
The position of the dial gauge should be as vertical as possible. This position is only an example: The magnetic base shall be on the mud pump body, the sensor shall be put on the mobile part (pinion shaft).

Remove the carter on the transmission between the electri motor and the pump.

Remove the cover “A” from both sides of the pump, by loosening the blocking screws. Check the bearings clearance with a thickness gauge, as shown in the following figure.
