Alternatively, the sand pump machine can be positioned below the water level. In most cases, centrifugal sludge pumps are installed within the cabin of a sand suction dredger. This arrangement places the sand pump below the water level, allowing for automatic injection of water into the centrifugal sludge pump.
Certain customers seek cost-saving measures and inquire about the possibility of substituting a simple floating platform for the sand dredger. However, if this approach is adopted, the sand pump unit would be positioned higher than the water level. To prevent water from escaping through the inlet pipe, it becomes necessary to install a bottom valve at the inlet of the sand suction rubber hose.
In June 2019, we received a request from a customer in Panama who was in need of a straightforward sand pump solution. Their requirement was to have a sand pump that could be placed on a small platform alongside 6 plastic buckets. The customer owned a 9-acre mangrove island in Panama and wanted to facilitate the pumping of sand from the ocean floor onto the island. The purpose was to fill the numerous wet areas on the island and raise its overall elevation.
Following extensive communication, it was determined that the required pumping depth ranged from 5 to 7 meters, with the operation taking place approximately 50 to 60 meters away from the coastline. Considering the local economic factors that required manual transportation of equipment, we proposed our smallest model, a 4-inch simple sludge pump equipped with a 22 hp diesel engine. This particular sand pump was deemed suitable and capable of fulfilling the customer’s working conditions effectively.
The centrifugal sludge pump weighed approximately 300 kg. To ensure optimal functionality, we provided a 10-meter sand suction rubber hose with a bottom valve, preventing water from flowing out during the filling process. Additionally, considering the 50-meter discharge distance, we supplied a 50-meter sand discharge rubber hose. In our pursuit of thoroughness, we also included a battery for starting the diesel engine, flanges for pipe connections, as well as bolts and nuts. Every aspect was carefully considered when assembling this sand pump set. Our attention to detail has left the customer highly satisfied with our work.
