Expeller also called Back impeller.It is an open impeller mounted in the opposite direction of the shaft to the opposite side of the impeller rear cover.The main effect is to balance the axial force and reduce the pressure of the sealed chamber.

When the pump operation and the shaft rotates.The liquid in the expeller will rotate together.The rotating liquid will produce an outward centrifugal force,which against the liquid flowing to the mechanical seal and reduce the pressure.Also prevent the solid flow into the mechanical seal.It reduce the wear of mechanical seal grinding block to extend its service life.

However,there also a disadvantage to use expeller seal.The expeller also consume part of the energy-3%.But we can reduce this consume with reasonable design
