I've got 60K miles on a 1.0 12V engine with the original water pump and auxilliary drive belt. Does anyone know how long these water pumps usually last? Is it worth replacing them now before they go bust on the road? Or should it last a lot longer?
If you have any doubt whatsoever, get the damned thing whipped off and sorted out
I should probably have said - it seems to be running fine. Looses perhaps quarter of an inch of coolant out of the header tank over 6 months, but no visible leakage from pump. No idea what the normal life of these is though.
sounds normal.... water pump should be changed with the timing belt every 35k
No timing belt on this engine got a chain, so I've never changed it. Done 60k on it so far, wondered if I should change it now.
