Marsulex has been awarded contracts to supply its flue gas desulphurization (FGD) system at two power plants in the People’s Republic of China.
The company’s limestone-gypsum FGD system will be installed at the two 600 MW units at Qinzhou Thermal Power Plant, Phase I to reduce sulphur dioxide emissions by 95 per cent. The contract was awarded by Southern Environmental Protection Engineering Co. and China Southern Investment Group.
The same FGD system will be also be installed at two 300 MW units at the Heze power plant to reduce sulphur dioxide emissions by 96 per cent. The contract was awarded by Shandong Shanda Wit Environmental Engineering.
Robert Cardell, Marsulex vice president and general manager, said: “The Chinese market for FGD systems continues to be the world’s largest and Marsulex Power Generation, with seven Chinese licensees and a growing list of projects, is well positioned to win additional business.”
The project is due for completion in 2006.
The Marsulex contract wins follow a recent report published by McIlvaine that stated that there will be more new FGD systems installed in China than in any other country over the next decade.
